DIVORCE

“All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.” ― Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina

Leo Tolstoy wrote that in 1878, long before 'family law' was a thing, but no one has ever so neatly summed up family law.

Divorce is at the heart of family law. The adversarial nature of the court process polarizes divorcing spouses.  Polarization in families is extremely destructive, and makes unhappy families even more unhappy. Fortunately, in family law there are other options.

Wysocki Law understands that most divorcing spouses will benefit from peaceful divorce. We know that equipped with the right information and supporting professionals, divorcing spouses are well positioned to discover durable solutions that best serve their unique families.

Our preferred process for handling divorces is collaborative, or at least cooperative. At a minimum, we encourage our clients to encourage their spouses to retain collaboratively trained attorneys. We find that engaging collaboratively trained attorneys reduces the financial and emotional toll of divorce, while empowering families to creatively plan and problem solve.
